What skin is....

The skin is the largest organ in the integumentary system; it is an everlasting organ that makes new cells that rise to the surface, and replaces the old cells, the skin has many layers and acts like a major barrier against the environment. There are very few places on the body where either the skin is very thick or very thin. The thinnest skin on your body is your eye lids. Its .05mm thin, and the thickest skin is on your palms or sole, its about 1.5mm thick. There are 4-5 layers of skin on the human body, there is the: epidermis, Basement membrane zone, Dermis and the subcutaneous tissue.
The skin is able to absorb moister and hold water, it can also get rid of the water, there are sweat glands that help you get rid of the access water. In my opinion I think skin can be very interesting and it’s a really cool thing to learn about.

  1. I think that skin is very interesting too and it is amazing on how it can protect us from the elements. I wonder how people get age spots and if you can prevent it.

  4. umm i dont know if you can prevent it, i will have to do somemore research... and you get flaky skin because the new cells are comming up to the top layer and the old cells die and fall off.
